Rose wine... not the same!
I don’t understand why people respond with “well we have a rose” when I ask for a red wine. Um.. HELLO?!
NOT GOOD ENOUGH! (In the Marshall voice from How I Met Your Mother, haha)
So interesting thing from today: I was chatting with a friend/previous coworker of mine today about all kinds of stuff…. work/school/etc etc. To my surprise, she flat out said to me...

A little astrology... why not
If I’m a Pisces, and I’m always so thoroughly connected to Scorpios, what does that say? I’ve done some extensive research on this in the past, but I felt like pulling more info online:
Pisces and Scorpio Compatibility - from the Pisces standpoint:
A perfect match, and one of the most intense in the zodiac. You want a soulmate, and your Scorpio will meet all your needs,...

Learn to stand up for yourself and go after what...
It’s important in life to seize opportunities in a timely manner. Like they say, feel the fear and do it anyways. That’s exactly what I did this week, for better or worse. And as I anxiously await the result(s), I rest assured knowing that it is now out of my hands.
How does this vague reference to my own life apply to yours? Learn to stand up for yourself. If you know that you want...

Favorite new wine shop
The Wine Merchant, Beverly Hills. I went in there the other day to get a gift, and I saw SO many amazing wines that I want! We’re talking your normal wines and then some super spendy wines. They had a very extensive French collection as well.
I’m definitely coming back there when I purchase that Turley I’ve been wanting. Plus, the customer service was fantastic. I highly...

February.... my lucky month.
I love the month of February, especially this year. You’ve got my birthday (always awesome). But this year I’m keeping it low key and doing a wine tasting weekend with a few of my favorite girls! I’m so lucky to have such great girlfriends in my life. Not many girls can say that! How many genuine friends do you have of the same sex? Those friends are tough to find, and I’ve...

Better to start fresh?
Is it better to start fresh or be resourceful and make use of what you already have access to? I suppose this could be taken many different ways. I am undecided on this. One could say that I’m very “green” in this sense. But sometimes I wonder… maybe it’s okay to begin writing on a fresh piece of paper.

Can little victories make you happy?
Can the small things in day to day life give you all the happiness that you need? Or is happiness about achieving the big things in life?
Maybe it all depends on what your goals are. For me, I need a combination of both.

Time moves slow...
Yes, sometimes time moves SO slowly you can’t even wait until the next minute has passed. You can’t control your lack of patience, and it’s eating you alive in the most painful way possible. You see the future, and you hold on to it tighter than a slipping rope. And with every minute of struggle, you feel it slipping away from you like a thousand needles stabbing your forefinger...

Tried a Concannon
Grabbed a random bottle of Concannon Syrah. Honestly it’s pretty dry for a Syrah… not sure I’d buy it again. And I’m a huge fan of dry wine! Interesting.

Opus One - window
Just found out that my 2008 Opus One should be drank between 2011 and 2021. Sweet! Maybe I’ll save it for a good 5 years or so!

Wine tasting and life
For my birthday this year I’m booking a room in Temecula with some friends for a wine tasting weekend! I’m stoked for that. My favorite birthday ever was my first trip to Napa, so I figured why not try some other wine country. Wine + friends = win.
Life? I’ve been UBER focused on my goals for this year so far in 2012. I’m normally such a little social butterfly but I...

Wine Tasting Suggestions?
I’m trying to find an affordable rate for about 5-6 friends for a wine tasting weekend. We’re looking in the Solvang/Santa Barbara area. Does anyone know of any great, affordable deals? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Can you will change?
If I make an affirmation of my New Year’s resolutions or spend my time focusing on finding solutions to the current problems in my life, will change come about?
Can you will change? If you put the thought out there, is it more likely to come around? The Secret says so. Some people I know believe that.
Will it work for me? If I focus on exactly what I want, will I find what I’m...

"So this is the new year.....
…and I don’t feel any different” - Death Cab
It’s true, I don’t feel any different. I am however excited about my goals for this year and even more excited to see what cards I will be dealt. I wrote out a list of exactly what I want and was as specific as possible. If I can envision it, maybe it’ll happen.
So I am about to do my version of a cleanse again...

Va De Vi - Walnut Creek, CA
Finally went to this place when I was up north visiting the parents. I tried the NV Nomad. Not bad. I love how this place offers you half glasses (which they fill pretty generously). The food is delicious, but way overpriced. I’d recommend just drinking the wine here!

Opus One
My boss got me a bottle of Opus One for my holiday gift. Um, WHAT! AWESOME. So stoked. Now the real question is….. what special occasion shall I save this bottle for? I’m sure plenty will come up knowing me :)

Solid Pinot Noir in the 20's
Great for gifts!
Calera Central Coast Pinot Noir…. around $25 a bottle. Great buy if you have about a case’s worth of wine gifts to give!
I ordered mine from the Wine House in Los Angeles. I love that place.

Making room for something new
It’s important to make room in your life for something better.
They say you always meet someone when you’re not looking. Well I completely disagree. In my experience, I meet people when I genuinely allow myself to. It’s like I get this moment where I just know what’s going to happen next. And suddenly I find myself mentally letting go of the past and really embracing the...

I'll be your distraction
Ever feel like everywhere you turn, there is something that reminds you of someone? Not in a sentimental way necessarily… in more of a direct way. As in, when someone mentions something like, “Oh look! Their company had an event at this bar that we are at right now. Let’s call so and so up and party with him!” Yeah. That’s like… right in my face. Boom.
How am I...

Southern Hospitality
Right now I’m actually in the deep south for my cousin’s wedding. I feel like I’m Rachel Bilson in the Hart of Dixie! haha. I must say everyone here is SO friendly. For example, guys just automatically help me with my luggage here and open doors for me. Love that. I also enjoy how chatty everyone is. I fit right in!
But of course, I’m a city girl at heart. I do enjoy the...

A red and a white... that I haven't tried.
Discovered two new wines this week… that I have yet to taste. This is purely based on recommendations.
Red - Barrell 27 from Santa Barbara. I made friends with the owner of this wine store, and he’s going to hook me up with the guy that makes this wine. Awesome!
White - Chateau Julien Pinot Grigio from Monterey. My cousin’s girlfriend swore it was a great solid white, so...
Music? Let's talk.
I’m obsessed with the new Florence & The Machine…. but aren’t we all. The new black keys is really solid as well, and the new Chevelle just came out today!! I must obtain it.
I’m also pretty into M83 right now as well as Grouplove. And I hate to say it, but the new Coldplay has a couple of great songs… particularly track 13. Then again, track 13 seems to be good...
Today's a good day.
I’m hanging out at the Houston airport right now waiting for my connecting flight. While I was on my first flight, quite a few things happened. Things… in a positive direction.
Today is a good day. Let’s hope tomorrow is even better!
White wine in the winter?
Well, why not? Winter….. in LA that is. Sometimes I go with white merely as a break from the red.

Men like Malbecs
It’s true. If you want to turn a guy on to wine, and he’s not normally a wine drinker, go South American. Malbecs are the easiest go-to.
Just a little handy note :)

The past few weeks have been stressful yet life changing. Sometimes a bad situation can be a blessing in disguise. It can motivate you to make a change. For the first time in my life, my goals are crystal clear. And I must say, it feels really good to have a well thought out plan. Now I just need to buckle down and focus!

Revelations? Why yes. Two of them.
I’ve had a major revelation this year, and another one this week.
I must preface by explaining that for once, my love life is uncluttered. I’ve been through a whole whirlwind this year… from a solid serious relationship to a fun summer fling to meeting the man I literally want to marry. Yeah, you heard that correctly. MARRY. Well, I would if I could anyways (and hey maybe one...
